Why Campus Ministry?
Impact the U. Impact the World.

A Crucial Crossroads
We believe that the college campus is a crucial battlefield in the spiritual realm. There is tremendous competition for the minds and hearts of students. The world is bombarding young people with its own message. God's people need to be bold in sharing His Message! Young people desperately need to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Potential for A Truly Global Impact
Doctors. Athletes. Politicians. Plumbers. Artists . . . Asian. African. European. South American. People come to Universities from all walks of life, and will go out to put their stamp on all levels of society, all over the world. Each student whose life is dramatically changed by Christ will dramatically change the world with Him, through Him, and for Him.We can impact the world by impacting the college campus, one person at a time!

Home?
Students face huge life-issues when away from home for the first time. It is a time of discovery of who they are, what they believe in and where they’re going. It is a time of taking ownership of their beliefs. For some students that may mean re-evaluating the faith they’ve been taught and growing stronger in their faith. For some it is a time of exploring faith and religion and still for others, a time of distancing themselves from it altogether.

Life Challenges
The most mentally, spiritually, emotionally, socially, ethically and intellectually challenging place to be in our country is on a college campus. Often referred to as the “marketplace of ideas,” college can be a blessing to those with open minds. Yet, the result for so many students is the opposite: extreme pressure, loneliness, confusion, regret and godlessness. Many students try to drown those feelings out with alcohol and drug abuse, sexual experimentation, or anything else that gives them (false) security.

Our Future Leaders!
Our colleges and universities are where the leaders of the next generation are being prepared. We want to see leaders rise up not only with passion for truth, justice, and Judeo-Christian morals, but whose lives are centered on an intimate relationship with God and who are Christlike men and women both on the inside and out.

80% - Is that Correct?
Yes, it’s a true statistic! 80% of Christians leave the church during their college years. Whether it's the pull of the world, lack of true faith in our churches, generational differences, or any combination of reasons you can come up with, young Christians aren't sticking to the faith they grow up with. Not unlike much of Europe, the USA is becoming a post-Christian nation. This  reality means that we need to work smarter (being creative) to share the Good News with a generation who have grown up in a very different world from years past.
Picture
"There has always been urgency in ministry for those in their late teens and early twenties.  It’s a strategic window in someone’s life that closes almost as quickly as it blooms.  Here’s what I believe is different about college ministry in 2011 and beyond.  The millennial generation is poised for an unprecedented spiritual movement.  Their longing for social justice and spiritual curiosity will take them in 1 or 2 directions.  American culture is becoming increasingly polarized between those who buy into humanistic/secular philosophy and those who are holding a biblical Christ-centered world view.  The students in our area will end up in one of those two ‘camps’.  Do you want to have say in which direction they go? Three Reasons
for Campus Ministry

-Zack Dean, Impact Campus Ministries Albany

1.Many students will be experiencing their first time away from home and will have a desire to connect with people who will help them through these often tough times.

2.A student’s beliefs are often attacked from both the class room with atheist professors and other students who revel in the sins of the world.

3.Lessons that many students learn during their college years will shape how they live the rest of their lives.
